Vehicle Description The Ford Torino started out as upscale variation of the Fairlane and would totally eclipse it in 1970 as the Torino grew in popularity with different trim levels being available including the base model hardtop, the powerful GT and luxurious Brougham.
The Torino was named for the Italian Detroit city of Turin in northern Italy and was essentially a counterpart to the Mercury Montego line.
Production of the Torino started in 1968 and continued until 1976 and saw 3 generations of restyling.
With a conventional style the 4 door Torino sedan model was the most popular and produced but Ford also used the Torino as the base for its NASCAR and had a successful racing career.
For the Torino's 2nd generation Ford moved away from the boxy lines of the earlier full-size models and completely redesigned the new body with coke bottle styling.
The new Torino grew in length and width and sported more prominent long hood short decklid styling.
Now featuring a pointed front end and a more aerodynamic look than previous years the grille also changed and now covered the full width of the front fascia and surrounded the quad headlights.
These new looks made it a favorite among customers and the 1970 model was even selected as the Motor Trend Car of the Year.
We are very pleased to offer this 1971 Ford Torino GT finished in its nearly all original factory code V Light Pewter Metallic with code correct 6E Medium Vermilion Vinyl interior, only 1 in less than 400 with this color and trim combination.
Powering this Torino GT is its original Cleveland 351 4V V8 producing a stout 285 horsepower mated to a C6 3-speed Automatic transmission.
The GT model offered special options and trim including a laser side stripe, unique GT flair in the front & rear styling, GT emblems, hood scoop, heavy duty suspension, and dual color-keyed racing mirrors with the driver's side being remote controlled.
Other desired options include air conditioning, power steering, power front disc brakes, Philco AM radio, rear bumper guards, electric clock and 15 Magnum 500 wheels with wide oval tires.

Albans West Virginia.
