Vehicle Description 1941 Willy Three-window Coupe Restomod Automatic transmission Black exterior and black leather interior Rumble seat and shaved door handles Power windows, tilt steering and Wilwood disc brakes The 1941 Willys Americar was roomier than any early Willys product, but it had just the right looks and just the right dimensions to make it an outstanding Hot Rod.
In the early days of the sport, the drag strips of America were filled with Willys ?gassers? setting race records.
We have one of those at MotoeXotica Classic Cars, a 1941 Americar 441 with a split rear window.
Dressed in black, the car?s paint and trim are in excellent order, the bodywork is straight and solid but the car lacks bumpers and has shaved door handles.
This car rolls on radials in front and Mickey Thompson performance tires in back.
Each tire is mounted to a Billet Specialty five-spoke alloy wheel.
The car has been retrofitted with Wilwood disc brakes.
Other driver conveniences include power windows and a tilt steering column.
The black leather seats are in excellent shape, as is the matching carpet and headliner.
There?s a three-spoke, aftermarket steering wheel.
There?s a digital dashboard.
It and in the inner door panels are in the same condition as the rest of the interior.
The console and related shift lever are in very good condition.
A modern AM/FM stereo with CD player rounds out the interior.
Critical four-cylinder engine failures, lack of replacement and repair parts and the sheer lack of assistance from Willys turned many Americars into perfect targets for the nascent hot rod community - the Go Devil engine was replaced with many other alternatives, some weaker, some much stronger than the original specification.
It became such a favorite that today a 100 percent stock Americar is a very rare find.
