Vehicle Description When Ford Motor Company invited Hertz and Carroll Shelby to rejoin forces for an anniversary edition Rent-A-Racer program in 2006, good things were about to happen! Not only was this program a wonderful success, but it also became a baseline for Ford executives to realize that SVT Mustang fans were indeed ready for Shelby's resurrection with a return of the Mustang GT500.
It seemed inevitable, but the process began slowly with a mildly modified Shelby GT version for 2007 that included body enhancements, suspension upgrades, along with performance engine tuning and exhaust system.
These GT cars were special in the fact that they were delivered to Shelby Automobiles Inc.
in Las Vegas for their transformation, just like the originals were in the 1960's.
When the Shelby GT500 production began that same year, all were individually built at that Ford production plant in Flat Rock, Michigan to better control both production volume and quality standards.
It was an unquestionable success, and buyers couldn't get their hands on the 500hp Shelby GT500 fast enough! Offered here is a one-owner 2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Convertible finished in Torch Red over Black/Red accent leather interior with Black power-folding cloth soft top! Ordered new from Duvall Ford in Jacksonville, Florida and delivered to its only owner in July 2007.

4L Supercharged 4-valve V8 engine, Tremec T56 6-speed manual transmission, SVT Tuned suspension, Brembo front disc brakes, tuned stainless steel dual exhaust with X-pipe, 18 machined aluminum wheels, aluminum hood with air extractors, fog lamps, rear decklid spoiler, sport bucket seats with embossed Cobra logo, anti-lock brakes, traction control, power windows & mirrors, power 6-way driver's seat, and Shaker 1000 audio system! This time capsule Shelby GT500 Convertible has remained garage kept and pampered with any necessary service work carried our by the original selling dealership since new! Today, the odometer reads only 1,975 miles! The past owners were easily convinced that Ford left horsepower restricted with a traditional air intake box and low flow exhaust mufflers, so they elected to add a cold air intake system designed by Steeda as well as polished stainless steel Magnaflow mufflers to free up some performance.
These contributions along with a software tune using a SCT X3 Power Flash Tuner, it dyno-tested to 494 rwhp and 469 lb.
