Responsibilities
Department Class (D Class) Vehicle Acquisition and Remarketing is responsible for development and support of agile and quick solutions for the life cycle of the vehicle including the acquisition, maintenance, and remarketing of the fleet. With almost $20 billion invested in over 1.7 million vehicles, you will play a critical role as an Engineer 1, Software in creating solutions that enable business leaders to drive out best in class solutions. The D Class team serves an ever growing need to leverage technological solutions for more efficient, encompassing and cost effective processes that allows business leaders to make decisions in a dynamic automotive environment. Most importantly, the team will work to understand unique business challenges and create applications to overcome them.
As an Engineer 1 you will be responsible for developing, modifying and implementing elements of technology to solve business problems. As an Engineer 1, you will also have the opportunity to assist in the design. You will work with a team to test, research and investigate technology and assist with the requirements gathering of the solutions. We are looking for a self-starter that will maintain established service level agreements to meet customer expectations and quality standards.
As an Engineer 1 with Enterprise Holdings, you will have the opportunity to build the applications enabling our global business operations and the customer experience that has made us the industry leader in rental transportation services. You'll be responsible for working as part of a driven team creating new code, features, functionality, and ensuring existing code meets our high standards of quality. The scope of your role will include testing and fixing defects; developing unit test and test scripts; performing local development builds, application integration builds and code merges; being a key contributor in code reviews; performing unit and integration testing; and planning and coordinating implementation activities. You will also sharpen your critical thinking skills by assisting with the analysis and review of software requirements by attending, design presentations and/or design sessions. In addition, this position participates in migrating applications to the quality assurance and/or production environment. The Engineer 1 normally receives general instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new projects or assignments.
Qualifications
Required:
Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future
Must have 1
year of experience working with an Object Oriented Programming language (.Net or Java; this can include experience from completed school coursework, school or individual projects, and/or work experience)
Must have knowledge and experience with HTML, JavaScript, and CSS (this can include experience from completed school coursework, school or individual projects, and/or work experience)
Knowledge of open source tools, such as Git and/or Bitbucket
Must have knowledge in one or more of the following databases Oracle, DB2, and/or SQL Server
Knowledge of the software development life cycle (SDLC) and/or the Agile methodology
Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with other team members and other IT teams
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Strong desire to learn emerging technologies and trends
Must be committed to incorporating security into all decisions and daily job responsibilities
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related field preferred
Experience with Visual Studio or a similar IDE
Ability to use system logs and debugging tools for problem resolution and system tuning
Experience with Web Services and Service Oriented Design
